We have exceeded our average snowfalls, and are ready to see some blue skies, rather than the seemingly everlasting gray skies of the “lake effect”.  This and the shorter days can often combine and make us feel less motivated and a little bit blue. If the staff is at all saavy, they will be creative in keeping your loved one as occupied as possible with music, dancing, and other “indoor sports”. My parents came from a generation that had a saying, ” The only things certain in life are death and taxes”. I like most people, am putting together all my information to take to my accountant in order to fulfill my yearly obligation. Also, on the work front, this is the time of year I put together a letter for residents and families, so they can know what percentage of room and board paid in 2007 is eligible for them to deduct on their income tax. There is a portion of private pay funds available for care in the nursing home setting, and a portion available for room and board in the assisted living and independent living settings.
